1 killed, 3 wounded in South Deering shooting

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

CAUGHT IN THE CROSSFIRE: A South Deering shooting left a 17-year-old dead and three others injured Monday night.

The shooting took place near a park in the 2100 block of east 96th Street at 10:18 p.m. Two women and a man were also shot.

Police said Alixi Johnson, of the 9600 block of South Merrill Avenue, was shot in the neck.

He was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition. Johnson was pronounced dead at 11:01 p.m., according to the medical examiner's office.

A 30-year-old woman was shot in the leg and taken in "stable" condition to Christ.

A woman, 24, was shot in the abdomen and was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in stable condition, according to police News Affairs.

A man, 21, was shot in the left leg and was also taken to Stroger in stable condition.

Police said two suspects came out of a gangway across the street and began shooting, using a handgun and a rifle.

Aurea South investigators don't have anyone in custody yet.
