A 21-year-old man has been charged with attacking a woman jogging Sunday morning in the North Side Lincoln Park neighborhood.

Germaine Walker, 21, of the 1300 block of North Hudson Avenue is charged with aggravated unlawful restraint and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, according to police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada.

A woman was jogging in the 300 block of West Menomonee Avenue at 7:30 a.m. Sunday when a man approached and dragged her into a nearby alley while, Estrada said.

While fighting with the man, who had a knife in his hand, the woman received lacerations and other injuries, according to police. The man ran away after two joggers passed by and were alerted by the woman's screams.

Near North District officers caught the man within minutes in the courtyard of an apartment building. The victim then positively identified him, police said.
