ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A homeless man is being held on $250,000 bond for shooting a man in the head during an argument in a northwest suburban parking lot.

Alan J. Frank, 25, was charged Monday with aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated battery and possession of a controlled substance, Mount Prospect police said in a release.

Frank allegedly confronted a group walking through a parking lot in the 2200 block of South Elmhurst Road in Mount Prospect about 12:30 a.m. Monday, police said. An argument ensued between Frank and a 19-year-old Des Plaines man.

Frank pulled out a handgun and shot the man once in the temple, police said. The victim was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police located Frank a short time later and the gun was recovered, police said. He admitted his involvement in the shooting.

Cook County Judge Jill Cerone-Marisie ordered Frank held on $250,000 bond, police said. He will next appear in court at 9 a.m. on Aug. 9 in Rolling Meadows.
