Metra approves controversial railroad bridge project on south side

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Metra's boards of directors have approved a controversial railroad bridge project on the South Side.

Congressmen Bobby Rush and Danny Davis had threatened to block construction of the project -- called the "Englewood Flyover" -- because, they said, it didn't provide enough jobs for African Americans in the Englewood neighborhood.

But Metra chairman Larry Huggins says that issue has been resolved -- and the congressmen have given their blessing to the $141 million project.
