City calls Taste of Chicago a success

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

The shortened taste of Chicago appears to have been a success. The city said 1.2 million people attended the five-day food festival.

That averages out to 240,000 visitors a day - an increase over last year's daily average.

The taste was shortened from its traditional ten days, to five. There were no fireworks and the number of restaurants was down from nearly 60, to only 40 this year.

The 32-year-old food festival lost money the last three years, which led to the shortened schedule.

The city said the new admission charges for some concert seats generated $250,000 in revenue.
