CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Police have released the 911 calls from the Fourth of July freight train derailment on Shermer Road in Glenview where a couple was buried alive under tons of debris.

The following is a transcript of the call:

911: 911, What's your emergency?

Caller: It appears there's a structure fire, or a car fire on Shermer

911: Where on Shermer?

Caller: Shermer and Willow. There's like a tremendous amount of black smoke.

911: Shermer and Willow?

Caller: Shermer and Willow. It actually, I think it was like either a train derailment or something's happened over here. It's completely black. We're at Willow and Shermer. It is a train derailment here.

911: Okay, a train derailed?

Caller: Yeah, a train derailed and there's a tremendous amount of black smoke. It's blocked Shermer completely. It fell of the viaduct. It looks like the bridge collapsed or uh, a train fell off the bridge.

911: Okay, the bridge may have collapsed?

Caller: Yeah, it looks like it may have buckled due to the heat or something but the entire road is blocked.

It wasn't until the next day that crews realized two people were buried under the rubble.

Shermer Road remains closed.
