CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Police captured two men who allegedly stole a woman's phone on the Pink Line Monday morning on the West Side.

Devin Despenza, 20, of the 5000 block of South Michigan Avenue, and Davonte Williams, 19, of the 22400 block of South Strassburg Avenue in Sauk Village, were each charged with felony robbery, according to a police release.

Despenza approached the 20-year-old Pink Line passenger about 11 a.m. as she talked on her cell phone and forcibly wrestled the phone away and fled southbound at the Kedzie station, the release said. The woman pursued Despenza, and saw Williams run past her and join him.

Despenza ran into a witness, who spotted him hand off the phone to Williams, the release said. The men fled in separate directions and the woman flagged down nearby Ogden District police officers.

The woman pointed out Despenza to the officers, who took him into custody and related a description of Williams, who was captured moments later, police said. The woman positively identified the men.

Police returned the woman's phone to her, the release said.

Despenza and Williams are scheduled to appear in bond court Thursday.
