DETROIT (WJBK) -

Police say a man has been shot and killed during a carjacking outside a restaurant on the city's east side.

Witnesses tell FOX 2's Al Allen that two suspects approached a man getting in to his Range Rover SUV around 4 a.m. at the Olympia Coney Island at the intersection of Chalmers and Harper.

Witnesses say the suspects robbed the man of his jewelry and cash before shooting him in the chest and making off in the luxury SUV. "The guys hit the freeway in the truck and I hid in the bushes," said a witness, who helped perform CPR on the victim.

Detroit police are still on the scene. The victim's identity has not been released and the suspects remain at large.
