Some south suburban residents reluctant to use water

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Some people in the south suburbs are experiencing extreme sticker shock when it comes to their water bills.

The Southtown Star reports Aqua Illinois has doubled its water rates and increased monthly service charges.

Some residents in Monee, University Park, and Crete Township have seen bills double and even triple.

They're so overwhelmed by these bills that some folks are thinking twice before they even flush a toilet – and they're reluctant to take showers.
