CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

United Airlines will offer five new round-trip flights from O'Hare International Airport to destinations in the U.S., Mexico, Canada, and the Caribbean.

The announcement was made Tuesday.

Daily service between O'Hare and Monterrey, Mexico, will begin on Dec. 19. The airline will also offer daily service between O'Hare and Thunder Bay, Ontario, beginning Feb. 14, 2013.

The airlines plans to offer weekly, peak-season service to Nassau, Bahamas beginning Feb. 9, 2013.

Daily peak winter service to Anchorage for the winter peak-travel period of Dec. 19 to Jan. 2, will be added to the airlines existing daily summer service.

United will also offer a daily, nonstop service from O'Hare to Jackson, Miss., beginning Nov. 4.

"Chicago is one of the most accessible cities in the world, and United's continued commitment to expanding its presence here creates jobs and economic opportunity for our residents and attracts more visitors and businesspeople to the city," Mayor Emanuel said in a press release Tuesday.

"This is a terrific step forward for the city as we continue to grow as a destination for business, tourism, culture and entertainment."

"These new routes provide more choices for passengers and enhance the overall Chicago travel market," said Aviation Commissioner Rosemarie Andolino.

United operates a hub out of Chicago that includes almost 600 nonstop daily flights to 150 spots worldwide.

Earlier this year, the airline announced new daily service from Chicago to Sarasota, Fl., beginning Nov. 4.
