Police are on alert after another mob attack on the Near North Side.
Police said a man was beaten by a large group of teens near the 100 block of West Superior at around 11:20 Wednesday night.
A large group of teens was arrested for causing the disturbance and injuring the man. One was also charged with resisting arrest after punching and kicking several officers, police said.
The man was taken to Northwestern Hospital, but his condition hasn't been released.
Chicago Police saw the group causing a disturbance near Dearborn Street and Chicago Avenue. One of them, a 15-year-old, punched a 21-year-old man for no reason as the rest of the teens egged him on, police said.
The officers requested medical assistance for the victim, who fell to the ground and struck his head, while other officers pursued the group of teens on foot as they attempted to escape.
The 15-year-old was caught shortly thereafter, but not before resisting arrest by striking several officers with closed fists and kicks. The 10 other teens were also apprehended.
The 15-year-old was charged as a juvenile with felony aggravated battery, two felony counts of aggravated battery to a police officer, and three felony counts of resisting arrest.
Charged with one count of misdemeanor mob action — violence to person or property, were: Darnell D. Johnson, 18, of the 11000 block of South Esmond Street; and 9 juveniles, one age 17, one 15, one 14 and six 16, police said.
The juveniles, all boys, were referred to Juvenile Court. Johnson is scheduled to appear in misdemeanor court at 3150 W. Flournoy on Aug. 27, according to police.
