Thousands of beachgoers, pool partiers and sun lovers are breaking out the grills, brews, lemonade and barbecue gear. Here are some simple ways to keep it eco-friendly.
Burning charcoal or wood can irritate lungs, allergies and asthma and create smoke and smog. Propane produces about half of the emissions that conventional charcoals do, and it burns clean meaning less smoke.
If you can't give up the charcoal, look for bags that say no additives or harvested from sustainable forests.
When it's time to chow down, consider recycled paper plates and cups, and try to use metal utensils instead of the plastic, disposable ones.
