
Police are seeking a suspect in several robberies in the Loop and Old Town neighborhoods within the past two weeks.
The man approaches people walking or standing on the sidewalk or riding a bicycle, according to a release from Area Central detectives. He grabs their cell phones and flees in a silver or gray Nissan, possibly an Altima, with Illinois or Texas license plates.
The suspect is described as a black male, 5-feet-7 to 5-feet-11 and 130-160 pounds, the release said.
During one robbery, three people approached the victim, grabbed him around the neck, said they had a gun and took the victim's wallet, the release said.
The robberies happened at the following locations:
200 block of West Goethe Street on June 23, 2012 at 3:20 p.m.
300 block of West Superior Street on June 23, 2012 at 3:25 p.m.
200 block of South Wells Street on June 23, 2012 at 3:45 p.m.
1300 block of North Wells Street on June 26, 2012 at 5 p.m.
300 block of West Evergreen Avenue on June 30, 2012 at 1:30 p.m.
