An arrest warrant was issued Monday for an exonerated Death Row inmate when he didn't show up to court after being accused of stealing deodorant.
Anthony Porter was charged in September with theft for allegedly stealing deodorant from a South Side Walgreens, authorities said.
Porter failed to appear in court Monday, and a judge issued a warrant for his arrest when he didn't show up, said Cook County State's Attorney's office spokesman Andy Conklin.
Porter was convicted and sentenced to Death Row for a 1982 double murder on the South Side. He was released from prison in 1999, after serving 16 years on Death Row.
