Emanuel administration says Accenture saved Chicago $13M

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

The Emanuel administration contends that a consulting company Mayor Emanuel hired last summer to consolidate and overhaul city contracts has already saved the city more than $13 million.

Emanuel hired Accenture with the promise of wringing at least $25 million in savings out of $500 million in purchases.

The savings was expected to come from renegotiating some contracts, re-bidding others and combining purchases by individual city departments to get a bulk price.

As an example, City Hall points to contracts awarded to manage public parking and ground transportation at O'Hare Airport, which the city claims has saved $5 million.
