CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Some Chicago cab drivers are on strike Monday over what they say is unfair treatment by the city.

About 2,000 cabbies of the city's 14,000 have decided not to provide their services.

They are protesting new rules and restrictions that went into effect Sunday. Among them, the old temporary $1 gas surcharge is now permanent.

The cabbies said they haven't had a raise in more than five years,

Drivers insist that the strike is working. City officials said Monday, not so much.

The man heading the strike efforts was reportedly arrested Monday at O'Hare Airport.

It still unclear just exactly what he was arrested for.
