CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
Prosecutors say a man charged with
killing his own mother in her South side home told investigators he was tired of
her nagging, and just snapped.
Ernest McGee, 34, is in jail facing one
count of first degree murder for killing Aletha McGee, 62.
Prosecutors say he
called police earlier this week, asking them to do a wellness check on his
mother, whom he said he hadn't heard from in days. When police arrived at her
home in the 9000 block of South Dobson, they found her shot to death in a recliner in her basement.
Investigators found what they believe to be the gun used in the murder inside
Aletha McGee's car, which was parked a few blocks away from Ernest McGee's
house.
Assistant State's Attorney Jamie
Santini told a judge on Friday that McGee admitted to killing his
mother.
"He stated that his
mother was driving him crazy, and always nagging him, and he stated ‘I just
snapped, and that's all,'" Santini said.
