HAMMOND, Ind. (FOX 32 News) -
Hammond Police have stopped searching for a little boy whose mother said was kidnapped by car thieves.
The mother initially told police that her son, one-year-old Jamari Strong was waiting in the car outside the Uncle Sams fireworks store on Calumet Avenue at 1:45 p.m. when she said the suspects -- a man and woman -- took the car.
It now appears that those people took off with the kid after trying to steal fireworks from the store. The mother and boy knew these people.
Jamari and his mother were later found in a South Side neighborhood by a FOX Chicago News crew. The boy appeared to be fine.
