CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -
A west suburban man who pleaded guilty to molesting three young children over a period of nearly four years will spend at least two decades in a prison, a judge ruled Tuesday.
Donald Grischow, 59, of Winfield, was sentenced by Judge Robert Kleeman to 30 years in prison for sexually assaulting three minor children who were left in his care, according to the DuPage County State's Attorney's office.
Grischow pleaded guilty on Feb. 14 to two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, and by law, must serve at least 24 years before being eligible for parole, according to prosecutors.
Prosecutors had alleged that from May 9, 2006, through February 14, 2010, Grischow sexually assaulted and abused the children on several occasions at his home. One of the victims finally disclosed the abuse to her grandmother, who contacted authorities.
"Donald Grischow is a sexual predator, plain and simple," State's Atty Robert Berlin said in a statement. "First, he took advantage of the trust placed in him by his victims' parents. He then took advantage of these children in unimaginable ways all to satisfy his own vile sexual desires. He stole his victims' innocence and for that he will pay a significant price."
