Police warn of gunmen robbing pizza deliverymen

Police are warning North Side pizzerias about two males who are attacking and robbing deliverymen at gunpoint.

The males approach pizza deliverymen at gunpoint when they are about to make their delivery and demand money, cell phones and the food, according to an alert from Area North detectives. In two of the five robberies, the suspect hit the deliveryman with his hands, feet and the butt of the handgun.

The robberies happened about midnight May 28 in the 4500 block of North Greenview Avenue, about 11:45 p.m. June 10 in the 4700 block of North Beacon Street, about 10:30 p.m. June 20 in the 2400 block of West Belle Plaine Avenue, about 2 p.m. June 21 in the 4700 block of North Beacon Street and about 1:15 a.m. June 24 in the 4700 block of North Beacon Street.

Police said there are two suspects, both described as black males with a dark complexion and short black hair between 16 and 25 years old. In two of the robberies the suspects wore bandanas over their faces and once the robber fled on a blue bicycle.
