CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

People from across the country - including some from the Chicago area – traveled to Virginia Tuesday to memorialize a long-missing relative.

Army Air Force Lieutenant Emil Wasilewski was shot down in September 1944 during a bombing run in Germany.

His remains were finally identified last year by the military's prisoner of war-missing persons office.

His family will bury him Tuesday at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
