June 26: Near 80 Tuesday, triple digits on Thursday

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Tuesday will be pleasant and comfortable with highs near 80. Then we head into an extended 7-10 day heat wave.

Get ready to crank on the AC as high pressure drifts to our southeast and pumps in heat starting on Wednesday with highs in the 90s.

Near record highs in the triple digits are possible Thursday. We haven't hit 100 since 2005 and the all-time record high for Chicago is 105.

Friday through July 4th highs will mainly be in the 90s. The heat index will be close to the actual air temperature. There is a slight chance of storms Friday, but we will remain mainly dry with our drought conditions worsening over the area during the next two weeks.

TUESDAY: Sunny and pleasant with highs near 81 and lows near 70.

WEDNESDAY: Sunny and hot with highs near 93 and lows near 73.

THURSDAY: HOT and humid with near record highs of 100-103 and lows near 80.

FRIDAY: Partly sunny, hot and humid with highs near 96 and lows near 72. There is a chance of scattered storms.

SATURDAY: Partly sunny and hot with highs near 88 and lows near 68.

SUNDAY: Partly sunny and hot with highs near 91 and lows near 70.

MONDAY: Partly sunny with highs near 95 and lows near 72.
