Chicago could be in for another round of blistering heat.
While temperatures on Monday and Tuesday will fall slightly below average, triple-digit temperatures will follow later in the week, according to the National Weather Service. On Thursday, temperatures could reach 100 degrees, with a heat index close to 105.
"We're definitely going to be seeing a lot of 90-degree days over the next seven days," said meteorologist David Beachler.
Last week had three straight days in the 90s, bringing the year's total 13. 1988 was Chicago's hottest summer on record. There were 47 days that reached the 90s and seven days that surpassed 100.
This summer is currently on record to eclipse that pace.
