Chicago legislators attempt to make revised gun law stricter

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Chicago legislators are trying to revise their gun-control laws after last week's court loss.

A judge struck down part of the 2010 law that barred people with any weapons convictions from getting a city handgun permit.

The new ordinance will bar anyone convicted of a violent crime within five years from getting a permit.

Despite the court setback, the city has had some success with gun control recently.

They took 5,500 guns off the street in a buy-back program on Saturday.
