CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A makeshift memorial is a tragic reminder of another senseless act of violence claiming the life of 13-year-old Tyquan Tyler.

Police say he was attending a party with his older sister in this Woodlawn neighborhood when a fight broke out. They ran from the brawl but Tyler was struck and killed.

It happened where candles and cards now decorate Tyler's memorial.

The teen was killed in the wee hours of Sunday morning adding to a troublesome tally of weekend gun violence - many of the victims teens.

At Chicago's 43rd Annual Pride Parade, Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy said Saturday's gun turn-in effort was progress but not enough.

"The fact is we're making incremental progress on it. We're going to continue to do that. We can't change it overnight. I'd love to, I wish we had some sort of magic potion. Crime reduction is hard work and it's in process and we're making it happen step by step," said McCarthy.

Tyler is one of two teens fatally shot over the weekend, including 14-year-old Antonio Davis. Davis was killed Friday night and left to die on the street in Englewood.

"We still have an unacceptable level of violence in this city. It's going to take a while but we're going to get it done," said McCarthy.

Two dozen people were injured by gunshots in the last 48 hours in several neighborhoods - including Lincoln Park.
