CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Divers in the suburbs found the body of a man presumed to be the boater who disappeared after going for a late night swim.

Divers found the body around 3:20 p.m. Tuesday, in Gage's Lake at Sears and Park.

The boater who went missing Monday night.

Grayslake Fire Chief John Christian says the recovery team used specialized equipment to aid in the recovery of the body.

"We have an operation out there right now that is a side-scan sonar and also a sector-scan sonar so we're literally looking at the entire area trying to find off the last seen point," Christian said.

Christian says the dive was very labor intensive and the water was very murky, providing zero visibility.

Wildwood Park District Commissioner Jim Neel says it's been about a year or two since the last fatality occurred at the lake, when a child fell off a catamaran.

Police received a call at about 9:40 p.m. saying that two men were out on their pontoon boat, jumped off the boat and went for a swim. The boat then drifted away from them.

One of the men managed to swim ashore.

No identities have been released yet pending family notification.
