Clinics offering low-cost options to keep pets safe, healthy

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Cook County is holding rabies vaccine and microchip clinics for its residents every Tuesday and Wednesday from June until October.

Dr. Donna Alexander, the head veterinarian for Cook County, joined Good Day Chicago Monday to discuss the importance of getting your pet vaccinated against rabies.

Claire Demos of PAWS Chicago also joined to show off a furry friend available for adoption.

A one year rabies shot costs $7 or a 3-year rabies shot is $21. Your pet must be at least 3 months old.

Microchipping is also an inexpensive option and helps identify your pet should it run off. The cost is $10 plus registration.

There are about 39 clinics across the county available to do these quick procedures.
