DETROIT (WJBK) -
"That's my one and only child, and I miss him right now," said Janice Miggins.
She is urging someone to come forward to help find
the person who shot and killed her son Monday morning at close to 2:00
a.m. at Mai Tais on Eight Mile near Schoenherr. Randolph
Miggins, Junior lived in Detroit until
two years ago when he decided to leave for a safer life. He went to Pittsburgh.
"The D was just too much for him. You know, it was just too
much," Miggins said.
Too much violence that even after leaving he could not escape. Detectives Monday were reviewing surveillance tape from around the area. They're
looking for who pulled the trigger inside the club on the
1300 block of East Eight Mile. Miggins was walking out of the club, friends say
with bouncers accompanying him out. He was shot in the head right
in the doorway. Two other people were also shot. A man and a
woman are both in stable condition. In all, more than five rounds were fired.
"I want justice for my son. I want the person who took him away
from here to be caught and get prosecuted for what they [did]," said Miggins.
Pittsburgh was
home now. He was safe. How could a family trip with family
fun turn into such tragedy? We asked his mother if he had any enemies in Detroit.
"No. He was a well-loved person."
A Father's Day barbecue and trip to the bar, a celebration turning
quickly into a day of mourning for the 30-year-old's family.
Anyone with information is asked to pick up the phone and call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
