CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Ten people were hurt -- two critically -- when a car crossed over the center line and collided with CTA bus early Saturday in the South Side South Shore neighborhood.

The crash happened about 1:30 a.m. in the 7200 block of South Jeffery Boulevard, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.

A passenger car traveling northbound swerved and crossed over the center line, into the path of the southbound bus, Greer said.

Two people were critically hurt in the crash and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Fire Media Affairs said.

The car's driver was one of the people taken to Christ Hospital, police said, though it wasn't immediately known if anyone else was in the vehicle.

One person in serious condition was taken in serious condition to South Shore Hospital, Fire Media Affairs said.

Seven people were taken to area hospitals in good condition following the wreck, four to Bernard A. Mitchell Hospital at the University of Chicago Medical Centers, and another three to Jackson Park Hospital.
