CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

The streets of Kenwood were decorated with flags and lined with little ones and adults, neighbors and complete strangers - all hoping to catch a quick glimpse of President Barack Obama as his motorcade passed by.

They waited and watched the Secret Service conduct security sweeps moments before the President arrived. Mr. Obama is home this weekend on a personal visit - the highlight of his trip is expected to be the wedding of friend and Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett's daughter, Laura.

Nestled between her mother and her soon-to-be husband, Tony Balkisoon - fellow Harvard University Law School graduate, the Jarrett family arrived to a barbecue at a neighbor's home.

Jarrett is getting married this weekend and the first family is expected to attend the wedding and festivities leading up to the big celebration.

"There's a barbecue that's happening down the street and we believe the President and his family are going to attend so that's going to be interesting," said Regina Whitaker, a neighbor.

"It's always pleasant when he comes home, it's always interesting, it's always exciting. You see the entourage, everybody coming in, it's always impressive so it's cool," said Andrew Whitaker.

Surrounded by family, friends and the Secret Service, the Jarrett family arrived at a neighbor's home to attend a Friday night barbecue.

Police filled the streets in Kenwood surrounding the Jarrett family home, where the wedding will take place, it's just one block from the first family's home.

Catering services could be seen coming and going early Friday evening.

"There's always a ramped up presence and stuff just because of who he is..." said Whitaker.

"A lot of police, a lot of security, FBI, whoever they are..." said Robert Zholston, a neighbor.

Neighbors are looking forward to seeing President Barack Obama, the First Lady and their daughters - it's been nearly two years since the foursome visited home.

It's the Presidents third trip to Chicago this month and despite the enhanced security, neighbors welcome it.

"It's always wonderful when they come in town, it's never intrusive as far as security - we welcome it and we are just happy to see him and the family," said Whitaker.
