ELMWOOD PARK, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Police are searching for a man in connection with a pair of attempted child abductions Wednesday in west suburban Elmwood Park.

The incidents happened at about 3:30 p.m. in the 7700 block of Palmer Avenue, a release from the village said. In the first case, the young girls said a man wore latex gloves and grabbed one of them, then later exposed himself to them.

A short time later, the man approached another girl and attempted to lure her closer to his vehicle. The victim ran home and told her parents.

"Illinois State Police are assisting us in our investigation as we follow up on several leads," Elmwood Park Police Chief Frank Fagiano said. "We are also working closely with the Chicago Police, who are following up on a similar incident that occurred the same day."

The man is described as white, in his 20s, between 5-foot-8 and 6 feet with a faux-hawk hairstyle combed to a point at the top. He was seen driving a newer model silver-blue metallic Honda Accord 4-door.

Anyone with information should call police at (708) 453-2137.
