Bears like what they see in summer workouts

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

The point of summer workouts is to make progress. The Bears feel they did that and now that they officially break for the off season the goal becomes to keep momentum going.

"To end today the way we did, running routes, being crisp and knowing our assignments, and leaving on a good note, once we get down to camp we're going to be rolling through it," wide receiver Devin Hester said.

"It seemed like everyone was on the same page. People were making plays and guys were really enjoying it," running back Michael Bush said.

"Getting a chance to work with Coach Tice the entire offseason can obviously help us so, everything is falling into place for us," center Roberto Garza said.

Head coach Lovie Smith says the team got a lot of good work in, touched on different plays and luckily, didn't have any injuries.

"The guys are leaving here in a great frame of mind, going to go off for a while and before we know it we'll be back down to Bourbonnais," Smith said.

The biggest unknown remains the status of Matt Forte. The unsigned running back has until July 16 to negotiate a new deal, otherwise he'll have to accept the franchise tag if he wants to remain with the Bears.
