Grain bin fire on south side

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Firefighters are on the scene of a fire in a silo at the Port of Chicago on the Far South Side on Thursday afternoon.

The fire is on the roof of a six-story silo at 127th Street near the Bishop Ford Expressway, according to Fire Media Affairs.

As of about 4 p.m., the fire was contained to the silo, and there was no danger of it spreading, Fire Media said. No injuries had been reported.
