Police search for suspects in CTA beating, iPhone robbery

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

The Guardian Angels want the public to help identify a group that beat a man over an iPhone.

They gave CTA riders something they can hold and refer to when riding the Red Line. The flyer has pictures of a half dozen youths that police believe were involved in a robbery and beating Saturday night.

Chicago Police released pictures taken by CTA surveillance cameras in the State and Lake station from Saturday about 10:20 p.m.

Police said a 24-year-old woman on the train dropped her iPhone 4S and one of the teens picked it up. When her 23-year-old husband asked him to give it back, police said the group began punching him in the face and kicked him.

The group then fled the train at State and Lake streets, according to the alert issued by Area Central detectives. In the photos, one of the youths is female, the rest are male.

The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for minor injuries, Mirabelli said.

The Guardian Angels were victims in an iPhone robbery a couple weeks ago, several were stabbed when they tried to stop a robber. CTA pictures help police apprehend those suspects and they were charged.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Area Central detectives at (312) 747-8382.
