A 59-year-old man missing since last week from the Southwest Side
apparently committed suicide by hanging himself in a west suburban
forest preserve, authorities said.
Naklicki's work van was found parked inside the Otawa Trail Woods in Lyons.
A source said the body is that of Naklicki, who was found hanging about
300 or 400 yards from where his car was parked. Police had found his
vehicle earlier this week.
Relatives say it was ticketed on Saturday for being parked here, but a paperwork glitch didn't inform officers it belonged to a missing Naklicki.
Tuesday, Cook County Forest preserve and Chicago police searched the woods with a K-9 unit, but didn't find a trace of the contracted electrician.
"It's not like him to disappear like that. Everybody is surprised of what could have happened. The van is not robbed all the equipment is there," son-in-law Kamil Nowakowski said.
The family members also say they don't believe Edward had any real enemies.
"Not that we know of that would create problems that somebody would kidnap him. Everybody is just coming up with different ideas right now," Nowakowski said.
