Despite criminal record, Harvey official reclaims former post

Posted: Updated:

A criminal record isn't stopping a Harvey official from getting her old school board job back.

Janet Rogers, when she was named Janet Thomas, was convicted of a pair of felonies for theft and benefits fraud in 2002.

Rogers spent 180 days in jail, and was kicked off the school board.

But she recently ran for the post again with her new husband's name, and won.

Experts are divided on whether or not running again was legal.

But for now, Rogers is the president of the board for Harvey School District 152.
