CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -
A 23-year-old northwest suburban homeless man was arrested after exchanging messages of a sexual nature through Facebook with a 12-year-old downstate girl.
Jonathan Pascolini was arrested Thursday by Mount Prospect police after an extensive investigation into allegations that he engaged in indecent and illegal conduct with the Springfield-area girl via Facebook.
According to a release from police, the girl's mother contacted them April 20 to report Pascolini was engaged in an inappropriate relationship with her daughter. She discovered he had befriended her daughter on Facebook.
Investigators determined Pascolini communicated with the girl online from January through April. Though he was homeless, Pascolini used computers at local libraries or friends' houses to access the internet. According to police, he told the girl he was 23 and she told him she was 14.
Pascolini began by discussing daily events with the girl, but then sent messages of a sexual nature. He allegedly coaxed the girl into providing several nude images of her via their Facebook accounts, then continued to send messages of a sexual nature.
On Thursday, investigators arrested Pascolini, who was charged with three felonies: indecent solicitation of a child, unlawful grooming, and possession of child pornography, the release said.
He was scheduled for a bond hearing Friday in Rolling Meadows.
