There's just one more day before Children's Memorial Hospital moves to its new home.
The Lincoln Park Hospital is moving downtown to the Ann and Robert Lurie Children's Hospital after Lurie's $100 million donation.
The 23-story hospital is the tallest children's hospital in the world.
Ambulances will be transporting roughly 200 critically sick or injured children starting Saturday at 6 a.m.
Fullerton will be closed from Lincoln to Lake Shore Drive, plus the exit and entrance ramps from Lake Shore Drive are blocked too, as the hospital transports all of the patients.
Parking will be restricted on the following blocks:
500-700 blocks of Fullerton Parkway
2300 block of Orchard Avenue
200-400 blocks of Chicago Avenue
200 block of East Superior Street
the north side of 100-200 blocks of East Lake Shore Drive
The closures and parking restrictions will be in effect all day Saturday, June 9. The move is expected to take between 10 and 18 hours and could continue into Sunday if necessary.
The new Lurie Children's Hospital, signs still covered up until it officially opens.
"All the doctors will be there, the emergency department, the ICU, the surgeons. It's a fully functional hospital at 6 am," Rozenfeld said.
