CALUMET PARK, Ill. (FOX 32 News) -

Two people were wounded when occupants of several vehicles fired shots at each other early Friday on I-57 near south suburban Calumet Park.

The shooting happened about 2:10 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-57 near 127th Street, according to an Illinois State Police District Chicago sergeant.

Witnesses told state police that people in several vehicles were shooting at each other.

One of the vehicles involved was a white Audi, which state police found near the Cal-Sag Channel. When officers arrived, two people jumped out, entered another vehicle, and drove to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, state police said. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Police found four other people near the Audi and they were taken in for questioning. As of about 9 a.m., state police were still trying to determine everything that happened and what led to the shooting, but the victims were not cooperating, police said.

One of the four who was detained was expected to be released, but may be back in custody soon because of two outstanding traffic warrants, state police said. No charges had been filed as of 9 a.m.
