BASIC FUNCTION:
Under general supervision, the Mechanical Engineer will perform independent evaluation of designs, procedures and criteria using judgment in making changes and modifications in design, material and/or systems. Plan and perform research, design, testing and development of assignments. Troubleshoot by investigating problems to product performance or production difficulties.
Specifically, the Mechanical Engineer will:
# Determine seal design for applications, and design / test product against specifications.
# Approve both detailed and proposed seal designs.
# Approve new and revised drawings assuring that they meet the latest engineering standards.
# Create new or update existing standards to control design criteria, application of products, and procedures.
# Analyze, evaluate and rectify mechanical seal or system failures.
# Perform, monitor and report on the testing of mechanical seal designs and systems.
# Modify testing and/or designs to meet design specifications.
# Assist Marketing with design, performance, and application criteria on existing designs or product enhancements.
# Review and disposition dimensional or material deviation requests on components by the company or suppliers.
# Plan, analyze, and develop designs for special applications and/or product enhancements in coordination with Marketing.
# Communicate orally and in writing with customers, salespersons, company personnel, and vendors providing counseling, recommendations and technical assistance.
# Create or assist in the creation of application software, analysis programs or selection criteria, for new or existing products.
# Create and distribute technical bulletins, articles, or papers dealing with product, application, or system design.
# Meet with customers in plant or at customer's site to discuss, analyze, and resolve field problems or perform seal installations.
# Forecast requirements and lead time to meet customer and departmental objectives.
# Additional duties and responsibilities will vary based upon departmental needs.
Job Requirements
Qualifications include:
Requires a BSME or equivalent with four to six years of working experience including mechanical engineering and manufacturing methods to obtain sufficient knowledge and background to assume responsibilities involved or a MSME with no working experience. Requires a working knowledge of personal computing and computer assisted equipment.
