A new twist on marriage proposals

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Monday's Talker is about putting a modern twist on an age-old tradition, the marriage proposal.

Technology has become so intertwined with our lives, there's now a whole genre of proposals called "romantech." That's romantic, with the help of technology.

One would-be groom used a tablet computer to play a custom "will you marry me" cartoon.

Another made a phone-app to send his gal on a bridal scavenger hunt.

The makers of the videogame "Portal" were privately commissioned to build three extra levels to their game. The last one ended in a wedding chapel.

Last year, Groupon worked with a Cincinnati man to post a mock engagement deal for his girlfriend. She clicked "buy."

And a proposal that just happened in Portland, Oregon is being hailed as possibly the most epic proposal ever.

With the help of 60 friends and family, Isaac Lamb had his girlfriend Amy Frankel sit in the back-hatch of a Honda CRV wearing headphones.

Then he cued up a song to which their friends and family lip-synced and performed a dance number behind the slow-moving SUV.

Amy said "yes."

The performance, called "lib-dubbing", has become an artform itself, with the explosion of high-quality video cameras, and YouTube.
