CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
The former-wife of Sen. Mark Kirk accuses the Illinois senator violated campaign finance laws.
Kimberly Vertolli said Kirk paid his then-girlfriend Dodie McCracken more than $143,000 for campaign work. Vertolli herself received $40,000 in campaign money after he brought her on to his team.
Kirk's campaign is characterizing Vertolli as an angry ex-wife who is making "groundless" claims.
Kirk is recovering from a stroke he suffered early this year.
