Robbery warning for Oakland, Kenwood neighborhoods

Posted: Updated:

Chicago police are warning residents in the South Side Oakland and Kenwood neighborhoods about two recent robberies.

Both robberies took place Tuesday night, between 43rd street and 49th street, and King Drive and Cottage Grove Avenue, according to an alert issued by Area Central detectives.

Two suspects would approach a resident, announce a robbery and take the victim's property, according to the alert. They threatened victims with a dark-colored handgun in at least one of the incidents.

They are described as two black men, between 18 and 35 years old, between 5-foot-4 and 6-feet, and weighting between 150 and 240 pounds, the alert said. They were wearing dark clothing.

Residents are asked to report any suspicious activity in the area, and anyone with information is asked to contact Area Central detectives at (312) 747-8382.
