Village of Crete residents concerned about detention center

VILLAGE OF CRETE (FOX 32 News) -

Residents in the Village of Crete voiced their disapproval over a potential immigration and customs enforcement detention center Thursday night.

The facility would be located on South Hartmann Drive.

The proposed building would house nearly 800 medium-to- high risk inmates.

Residents crowded into the village hall last night to address their concerns.

Many say they're afraid of the long term effects a prison would have on their community.

Although the village council added the issue to their agenda, no decision was made.
