Phillip Phillips' health problems were pretty severe before he won season 11 of American Idol.
The 21-year-old Leesburg native's dad told People magazine that his son has had eight operations since the competition began to deal with chronic kidney problems.
And TMZ is reporting Phillips will undergo kidney surgery next week in Los Angeles.
Thanks to the production assistance of TMZ -- TMZ founder and celebrity reporter Harvey Levin spoke with Good Day Atlanta's Karen Graham via satellite with the latest.
