Two men were charged Sunday with attempted murder for the gang-related shooting of two men in west suburban Berwyn on Friday night.
Shawn Cassell, 24, of the 300 block of Lathrop in Forest Park; and Jonathan Morales, 23, of the 4600 block of 12th Place in Cicero were each charged with two counts of attempted murder, according to Berwyn police.
Cassell allegedly jumped out from behind a tree and shot two men with a .32 caliber semi-automatic weapon at 9:47 p.m. Friday in the 1200 block of East Avenue, a release from police said. He allegedly yelled out his street gang affiliation while shooting the men.
Cassell and Morales are documented members of the "Sin City Boyz" street gang, the release said.
A 28 year-old men was shot once in the left leg, and a 29-year old was shot multiple times, the release said. Both were taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood. One man was released Friday night while the other is still being treated.
Morales was the driver of the vehicle used in the shooting, police said. The weapon has not been recovered but shell casings were found at the scene.
Cassell and Morales were scheduled for a bond hearing Monday in Maywood.
