A Cook County judge has ruled that the man accused ofkilling Indiana Head Parkteenager Kelli O'Laughlin is fit to stand trial.
John L. Wilson Jr. had acted confused at previous hearings,but on Monday Judge John Hynes found him fit after reviewing psychiatric reportsfrom recent fitness evaluations.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the reports stopped shortof calling Wilson a faker when he claimed he heard voices.
Wilson,38, also fired his attorneys Monday, and told the judge he wants to representhimself against the murder charges.
Prosecutors say Wilson fatallystabbed O'Laughlin in her home on Oct. 27 after she apparently surprised Wilson when she returned home from Lyons Township High School.
They say Wilsonwas burglarizing the home, and then stabbed O'Laughlin in her neck and chest.
Wilsonhas also been accused of using O'Laughlin's cell phone to send taunting textmessages to her mother, after she was found dead. Police caught him about aweek later using cell-phone tracking technology.
Wilsonhad spent 17 years in prison and was on parole at the time of his arrest. He isbeing held without bail in a state prison because of the parole violation.
