FIRST ON FOX: FOX Chicago Newshas learned that protestors will be able to post messages on banners and signsalong this semi-circular drive at the famous convention hall's front door, inaddition to a table offering literature and two video screens inside that willcarry the protest message.
It's remarkable, because this is all insidewhat the Secret Service calls the hard perimeter for this National SecuritySpecial Event.
A lawyer forseveral of the groups planning to protest the NATO Summit said he was pleasedthat the Secret Service and other officials had agreed, for what he called thefirst time ever, to allow signs and symbols of protest inside the hard securityperimeter.
"The MetropolitanPier Authority will accept applications from people who wish to put upunattended objects, not inside of aNational Special Security Event Perimeter," Harvey Grossman, ACLU of Illinois,said.
Nonetheless,leaders of the Coalition Against NATO/G-8 said they're still unsure ofachieving their real goal.
"Iwanted the generals to see us and to hear us. I think most people wanted that.But we're gonna be on their doorstep. And we're going deliver our message, " protester Joe Losbakersaid.
