Chicago police said that Michael Younger, 50, stole a Bobcat excavator from a construction site on the West Side on Friday morning, then used it to smash through the window of a dollar store a block away.
Younger took the Bobcat mini excavating machine from a construction site in the 5300 block of West Chicago Avenue about 4:15 a.m. and used it to break through the front window of the Family Dollar Store in the 5400 block of West Chicago, according to police.
Younger then stole gift cards and two bottles of Gillette shaving gel from the Dollar Store, police said.
Officers responded to an alarm at the store and caught him near the scene. Younger, of the 8100 block of South Vernon Avenue, has been charged with two felony counts of burglary, police said.
