CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
Fans of both the original "Dark Shadows" TV show and director Tim Burton have been anticipating Burton's new, big screen version of the cult TV classic.
While the new film starts strongly, and does have a great cast - I have to say Burton's movie is something of a disappointment.
As always, Johnny Depp is wonderful in yet another quirky role playing the iconic vampire Barnabas, aroused after two centuries into the 1970s. Depp is also backed by a strong supporting cast, including Michelle Pfeiffer, Eva Green and Helena Bonham Carter.
Burton gives the tale a stylish look as he usually does. But unfortunately, the film loses it's original momentum and just kind of goes flat for the second half.
This is one you can wait to rent.
Now to "The Dictator," which opens in theaters next Wednesday.
Earlier this week I was in New York City, where Sasha Baron Cohen held a press conference - in character as admiral General Aladeen.
I also got to sit down with several of the cast members from "The Dictator," including the lovely Anna Faris.
She said she was excited to be part of a Sasha Baron Cohen project, and a little scared too.
Anna Faris has made a lot of edgy films - many r-rated. But Faris announced she and husband and actor Chris Pratt are expecting their first child this fall. Clearly, that kid won't see many of mom's films - especially "The Dictator" - for a long time!
